Where do I find Check-to-Card within the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App?

Log into the app and then tap Check-to-Card. From there, you can follow the on-screen prompts to load a check to your Emerald Card.

Why do I need to turn on my geo-locator to use Check-to-Card?

As one of many security measures intended to protect the security of your account, the Check-to-Card Service uses mobile geo-location services as an added measure to help confirm your phone is not in an unusual location when submitting a transaction.

If you do not have geo-location services enabled, you will be prompted in the app to enable location services before you can submit a check.

To enable location services on an Android device:

  • Close the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and tap Settings on your mobile device
  • Scroll down and tap Location
  • Turn on the Location service
  • On the Location Consent screen, tap Agree
  • On the Improve Location Accuracy screen, we recommend you tap Agree to enable Google’s Location Service; it is not required that you enable this service, but it will provide a better user experience
  • Close Settings, re-open the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and continue

To enable location services on an iPhone:

  • Close the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and tap Settings on your iPhone
  • Scroll down and tap Privacy
  • Tap Location Services
  • Enable Location Services if it is not already enabled
  • Scroll down and tap the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App, and choose ‘While Using the App’
  • Close Settings, re-open the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and continue

Why should I turn on push notifications?

Enabling push notifications allows you to receive immediate transaction status updates during the check review process, even if you close the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App. Push notifications will help you stay informed on the next necessary action to complete the review process and fund your card as quickly as possible.

Your Android device will enable push notifications on the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App by default. If you disable push notifications and want to re-enable the notification service:

  • Close the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and tap Settings on your mobile device
  • Scroll down to the Applications tab and tap the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App
  • Enable Show Notifications
  • Close Settings, re-open the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and continue

To enable push notifications on an iPhone:

  • Close the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and tap Settings on your iPhone
  • Tap Notifications
  • Scroll down and tap the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App
  • Enable Allow Notifications if it is not already enabled
  • Set your notification options
  • Close Settings, re-open the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App and continue

How do I use my smartphone camera to take a picture of a check?

It’s easy! First, endorse the back of your check in the space indicated and make sure the lighting in the room is good. Now, lay the check on a solid-colored background so that none of the check information is covered up. Then, position your smartphone camera at a slight angle so there are no shadows on the check. Be sure the check fits just inside the guidelines and that it is not wrinkled in any way. Then, just take the photo to submit it for review for funding approval.

How much does it cost to use Check-to-Card?

There is no cost to download the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App, and there is no cost to have the app on your phone (although wireless data rates may apply).

When you submit a check for approval review, you have a choice. You can choose to pay a fee and your check will be reviewed for approval in a few minutes, although in some instances it can take up to an hour. The fee is 2% for payroll and government checks with a pre-printed signature and 4% for all other accepted check types, with a minimum fee of $2 per transaction. If your check isn’t approved and funded, no fee is charged.

Alternatively, you may choose 10-day funding for no fee, and your funds will be loaded to your card in 10 days if the check is approved and is not returned unpaid during the 10-day period. Your funds are not FDIC insured until they are loaded onto your Emerald Card.

When will my funds be available?

You decide! If you choose the 10-day no-fee option, your money will be funded to your Emerald Card in 10 days if your check is approved and not returned unpaid. If you need your money sooner, you can choose to pay the fee of 2% for payroll and government checks with a pre-printed signature or 4% for all other checks (with a minimum fee of $2 per transaction), and if your check is approved, your money will be funded to your card after a short review that can take as few as 2 minutes or, in rare instances, as long as an hour.

What kinds of checks can I submit?

You can submit most check types to be reviewed for funding approval from $5 up to $5,000. This includes traditional payroll and government checks with a pre-printed signature, attorney checks, cashier’s checks, handwritten payroll checks, insurance checks, money orders, rebate checks, and two party or personal checks.

Please note that you can’t load funds from checks that aren’t made out to you, checks that you have issued and made payable to yourself, checks with conditional endorsements, counter checks, credit card checks, customer appreciation certificates, gift certificates, starter checks, traveler’s checks, and warrants.

What are the check limits?

You may use Check-to-Card to load checks ranging in value from a minimum of $5 to a maximum of $5,000. You can load multiple checks totaling up to $5,000 in value per day and up to $15,000 in value per month. All checks are subject to review for approval.

Why am I being asked to submit a photo of my check with ‘VOID’ written on it?

In order to prevent a check from being submitted twice, you may be asked to write ‘VOID’ across the front of your check after it has been approved for funding and submit a photo of the voided check in the app prior to the release of funds to your card.

What do I do with my check after I’ve submitted it using Check-to-Card?

Hold onto your check until you receive a confirmation email saying the funds from your check have been loaded onto your card. Once received, void or destroy it to prevent duplicate check loads. Additionally, if your check is approved, you may be required to write VOID across the check and submit another image before funds are released.

Why is the app saying my check isn’t filled out when it is?

It’s possible that the check is not written dark enough or that some of the information, like the amount, is not close enough to its intended area. Please return the check to the check writer for corrections, or you can contact Ingo Money at (229) 276-3990 for further assistance.

Why wasn’t my check approved?

All checks submitted in the Check-to-Card Service are subject to review for approval by Ingo Money. There are a number of reasons why your check might not have been approved, such as:

  • Not enough information was able to be verified on the check writer’s account
  • The payee name on the check doesn’t match the name on your Check-to-Card account
  • The check was written on a closed account
  • The amount of the check will cause you to exceed the daily, weekly, or monthly load limits for your Emerald Card
  • The amount of the check will cause you to exceed the Check-to-Card limits. You may use Check-to-Card to load checks up to $5,000 in value per check, up to $5,000 in total check value per day, and up to $15,000 in total check value per month
  • The amount of the check will cause you to exceed the maximum balance allowed on your Emerald Card
  • The amount of the check is less than $5 or more than $5,000

Why is my Check-to-Card account on hold?

We truly apologize for the inconvenience. Ingo Money may place your Ingo for H&R Block Check-to-Card account on hold for a variety of reasons, like an inability to re-verify your identity or submission of a check that triggers a security review. If your account is on hold, we recommend you contact Ingo Money at help@ingomoney.com.

How do I suspend or cancel my Emerald Card Mobile Banking App account?

Since the Emerald Card Mobile Banking App does not require a membership, there is nothing for you to cancel. Simply uninstall the app and you’re all set.

Is my data secure?

Ingo Money uses systems and technology to protect your personal information and won’t share your information with outside parties except as set forth in the Ingo Money Privacy Policy or with your permission.
